In this videoconference talk from 2 April, 2021, Ajahn Anan discusses the positive and negative aspects of a developed world and how we should relate to it.
“During the Buddha’s time, even though the world was not developed, it was very well-developed in terms of the mind. People had to travel with difficulty, go far distances and through the wilderness, yet many saw and knew the Dhamma. Now, the world is much more developed. 2021.03.10 | Just like clear water that has been mixed with dye, the mind gets coloured by the objects it experiences. If it meets with a sight or sound that is a basis for anger, the mind picks this up and turns angry. The same is true for love, hate and fear. When we can start putting these sense objects down, however, the mind separates from them, and returns to its clear, original state.
