International Sangha

W at Marp Jan features a large community of foreign monks residing at the monastery and its various branches in Thailand and abroad. Since Ajahn Kalyano, current abbot of Buddha Bodhivana Monastery, came to practice under Ajahn Anan over twenty years ago, a stream of faithful monastics and laity from around the world have come seeking guidance and teachings. Having spent his early years as a monk close to Luang Por Chah at Wat Nong Pah Pong, Ajahn Anan is known for his ability to articulate the essentials of the path in terms practitioners from varied backgrounds can understand. His simple, direct teaching style has drawn a number of the Ajahn Chah Tradition’s senior foreign monastics to study with him and allowed for a robust community of international monks to grow under his guidance.
